Hello. I am Madeleine Shulman originally from the snowy streets of Chicago and now living in sunny Tucson, AZ. for over 45 years. I started to paint as support to being a "Color Me Beautiful" color consultant. I would show people what colors looked good on them. My first art classes were interpretive figure drawing with live models. We did hundreds of fast sketches before longer poses. The instructor said we were outside artists and I took these for 12-15 years The instructor set up elaborate settings each week. No formal anatomy or lessons of any kind, only terms, lights, darks, foreground, middle ground and background so I had no lessons on anything specific. It was just a lot of fun. I did very large canvases in acrylics in one three hour session. Also did some sculpturing with the same instructor. After he retired, I turned to oils, doing landscapes. It has been a big learning curve. I also do a lot on studying with online lessons. I very seriously want to improve my skills. I did people for a long time and looking forward to get back to drawing people instead of trees! I am married for the second time. Lost my first husband to Alzheimer's. Terrible disease! Been in the restaurant business, retail clothing, Appraiser, real estate agent and I am a trained Holistic Health coach. I have three grown children and nine grandchildren. Mostly retired now.
