PEGGI KROLL ROBERTS SERIES #1: DEMO # 3: JAN 23, 2018

This morning, Peggi did a few amazing little head studies of her beautiful model, Lauren. Working with mostly a limited palette, she demonstrated how to find the proportions of the head when it's tilting or looking straight forward. A difficult feat for even the most advanced, is finding those proportional measurements with the head so accurately that the likeness emerges almost instantly. More importantly though, is learning the ability to paint the classic proportions to get a pleasing, convincing, and realistic head.

John Asaro's head cast, from his cast series, "Planes of the Head," received some attention. John Asaro's instructional aids have been a favorite of ours. You can find out how to purchase his casts here: www.planesofthehead.com. Peggi referenced fashion illustrator, Renee Grewal, when asked about "pattern painting." Unfortunately, there's next to nothing of hers on the internet. And Mary Cassatt is one of Peggi's favorites that often comes up during her workshops. Her aquatints are a good example of the "pattern painting" style (using flat shapes that contain no light or shadow).

Peggi also brought up one of her favorite books, Figure Drawing For All It's Worth, by Andrew Loomis: https://www.amazon.com/Figure-Drawing-All-Its-Worth/dp/0857680986. Anyone interested in learning the figure should read this book.

The LIVE demo recording was available to our participants to watch for a limited time. The viewing time has since expired. If you missed the LIVE demo, no worries--we'll have it available for purchase in our "Streaming Videos" section on our website soon.

Pictured below is Peggi's demo and also her example board from previous demonstrations.
